Sanderson Between Two Pots of Grass

Just when I thought I was going to be a cat of leisure, Mom has put me to work -- doing yard work. (I know, you're thinking that one's not so easy for an indoor cat, right?) Well, I'm not so sure I would have been as ecstatic about my new grass if I'd known I was going to be the one that had to mow it. What does Mom think I am, a billy goat? I suppose I will get better at it as I go along. Maybe next time the grass won't fight back!

Oh no! Mom's getting the luggage out and starting to pack. I thought I overheard her talking on the phone to Aunt Zoe the other night, but I hoped I was wrong about what she was saying. Oh well, I like Aunt Zoe, she will take good care of me while Mom and her friends are over at Bodega Bay. This could turn out to be fun.  I guess there are advantages to being "HOME ALONE." I'll have the computer to myself!

They're home again. Thank goodness I don't have to sleep alone for another night. Mom was glad to see me, but not as glad as I was to see her. And I had the most fun refusing to leave her alone. It was a great opportunity to get my revenge for her leaving me by shedding all over her clothes! I had hoped that they would bring me home a little crab, but it turns out that they are out of season in August. Oh well, it would have been an uneven match deciding who had the best claws. I prefer to call mine nails, however. "Doing my nails" has a much better sound to it than "clipping my claws," doesn't it?

All that fresh ocean air has motivated Mom to do more gardening. Which is fine with me, because maybe it will extend to cutting the grass so I don't have to. Actually, she has planted two more patches of grass. They have sprouted already and are growing nicely on the upstairs patio. I understand that she is going to swap them out for each other every other week so my indoor garden will retain its outdoor freshness. How thoughtful. What a Mom I've got!

Remember when you were a kid how you used to get nervous when it was getting close to time for your dental check-up? Well, it's been a year since I had my last shots, and I'm starting to get nervous. I like my doctor, but I don't like the needle! I'm as healthy as a horse, so maybe I won't have to go see my doctor this year. Yeah, right, sure. You know what's the worst thing about being an indoor cat? Limited hiding places!

Check back now and then. I'll keep you posted on the latest developments! Hope to see you soon.
