Sanderson's Diary, December 1998
December 1 The silly season is upon us! The month of Christmas is turning out to be a lot of fun this year though. Mom thought I was old enough that we could have a Christmas Tree. It is a lot of fun to hide under, and makes a perfect launch pad for my pouncing efforts. And then there are all those lights to unplug! The ones over the fireplace mantle, the ones on the bannister, the ones on the tree . . . well, you know! I've seen her wrapping presents, but she has so far put them where I can't get into them. That's got to change! December 4 This Christmas decorating concept is great! I know Mom is wrapping stuff and hiding it from me, so I have enlisted my spies to help out here. Each night I put my three pets under the tree so they can watch while I sleep. That way in the morning they can tell me what she's been up to, and they also keep watch when I go upstairs purposely thinking that Mom will put stuff for me under the tree if she thinks I am not watching. (It also puts them closer to the food dish!) Of course, she has caught me with my head hanging over the balcony railing from the second floor a couple of times! Oh well, it is only 21 days until Christmas . . . Gosh, can I wait that long? December 14 Christmas is coming closer. Yesterday Mom asked me to think about what I would like to have this year. So I thought and thought, and when she went out shopping, I decided I wanted my own Forum and Chat Room on the Internet. She left the computer on when she went out, so I decided why not make things easy on her and picked them out for myself! I was going to tell you how to visit my Forum. It had a message board, chat room, and a whole bunch of other neat things. But Mom found out and busted me. But I do love the holidays. The winter surfing is terrific! And later on last night when they weren't looking I leapt up onto the mantle and took the Christmas stockings down to see what was inside them. Oops, maybe I shouldn't have done that, because they were empty! Oh well, I suppose it beats finding a lump of coal and getting my paws all black!
December 21 Okay. I think Mom has wrapped most of the Christmas presents. That could be bad. Well, I hope there are more, anyway! I know that she came home with some things that smelled an awfully lot like stuff for me, but she hasn't brought them out to wrap yet. Maybe she is still mad from when I kept trying to get the Beanie Babies she got for her younger cousins. But they were so much fun to play with! The Reindeer I managed to snatch is absolutely adorable! And Randy is several years old now, and getting a little long in the tooth. I need to make sure that I have a replacement if he should ever sort of bite the bullet on me! So I call the new guy Rainy. It's kind of cool to be able to have two Reindeer feeding at my dish. And the new guy isn't nearly so water absorbent! December 27 Boy was Christmas great! For a guy that's been "fixed," I've sure got a lot of new balls now! Four multi-colored ping pong balls, four foam-rubber golf galls, and four foam-rubber soccer balls, to be exact. And you know how fast I can swat them all under the furniture with the rest of them? The treats were great too. I had both toys and treats in my stocking, as well as packages to unwrap. I have a lovely new collar tag that looks great on my 14-carat gold neckchain. I don't wear them, but they are wonderful to carry around the house. I do have to admit though that I am still trying to figure out what to do with the pair of sweat pants. I suppose they were for Mom, but they are cuddly to lay on, and at least I didn't unwrapped the negligee? I just hope everyone had as great a Christmas as I did! Check back now and then. I'll keep you posted on the latest developments! Hope to see you soon. Sanderson |
