Sanderson's Diary, December 2006
December 2 Mom sat down today to write the Holiday letter and do the cards. I slept. The cards aren’t any fun to do. You can’t play with them. (Well, a guy can try, but it usually ends up in paper cuts and glue on the tongue. What a treat!) Now the ornaments for the tree, that’s a different thing altogether. December 4 I knew Mom couldn’t wait until the fifth to put up the tree. Ah, all those lovely little wooden ornaments! Mom found out years ago that for the sake of her sanity, she should put the breakable ones up high, so I figure that anything that dangles from the lower branches is fair game. Especially that silver stuff. December 7 Okay, maybe not the silver stuff. That long string of it is a little hard to swallow, and I don’t seem to be able to process it quite like I can roses. It took three days for it all to come out, with Mom anxiously watching. She even went so far as to call my doctor, what an embarrassment. Well, I don’t have to worry about it any more, because she took all the silver stuff off and replaced it with bows. Lovely red velvet ones and big semitransparent ones that the tree lights really sparkle through. I haven’t been tempted to eat them, so we have a happier household. December 11 The countdown to Christmas is now in full swing, but we are getting into the spirit around here early. I ordered Mom an apres ski sweater from an outfitters, and I didn’t want to not be able to return it in time in case it didn’t fit, so I had her try it on. Then she wanted to keep it, so I said okay.
So then I saw her trying to sneak into the house with a maroon red comforter. I think it was going to be for me. It is a color I look good on. Well, it is for me now, because I pounced on it, ripped it from the bag, and had a good roll. Once a guy shows that much enthusiasm, Mom has to let you keep it, right? See, don’t I look good on it? Check back now and then. I'll keep you posted on the latest developments! Hope to see you soon. Sanderson |
