January 1

Well, what have we here? They say this new millennium is a real bear. To me, it seems just another day, except that Mom had people over last night and they seemed to stay up forever! Which was fine with me. It meant more treats and more folks to play volleyball with. Some of them sure are moving slowly this morning though. Mom was on stand-by, so aside from sleep deprivation, she's in pretty good shape. I passed on the champagne too. It makes my whiskers tickle, and I'd rather drink from the sink any day!

January 9

I'd say it's a millennium thing, but Mom's done it to me before. Gone on vacation, that is. She and he and them (a few relatives here and there) have gone back to Bodega Bay. I'd pout, but I've got it pretty good here with the house to myself and my Aunt Zoe coming in to brush me and give me treats and make sure I've got enough food and water. And, of course, the most crucial part, clean my potty! One of these days I'll just give in to the inevitable and start using the toilet, but they're going to have to work on the flushing mechanism first.

I do love the electronic age. A person (or a cat) is never lonely. There's e-mail, chat, and games, and my pets fit nicely on the computer desk to watch over me and keep me company while I'm computing. And if the mails are efficient, the Valentine's gift I ordered for Mom on-line will be here before they're back and she will be none the wiser until the credit card bill comes in!

January 30

Okay. So the Super Bowl has come and gone. The only good things about it were the last quarter and the commercial all my friends were in. You remember, that one where the cowboys were herding/rescuing all those cats? What will they think of next!
