Sanderson's Diary, January 2007
January 2 Happy New Year, everyone! I only made one resolution -- to watch the shredder. It makes the most disgusting noises as it slurps papers. Why is it that our humans seem to shred a year’s worth of paper every year? We cats just shred the furniture! Makes a lot more sense to me. January 8 By the way, do you like the music? I’m thinking of taking up square dancing. Seems like a good way to stay fit. I wonder if there are any girl cats in the neighborhood with a similar mind? We’ll see what happens as the month develops. January 14 Mom’s been gone all day today. But I’m not worried. When she picked me up from the resort after Thanksgiving, she said that we were good to go until next Thanksgiving. I think I heard her say something about professional bowling, but I know she’s too old, so I assume that she went up to Medford, OR, to watch the Earl Anthony Medford Classic. That’s driving distance and she left the food dish full and a light on. January 19 Today I am worried. The rolling duffel is out on the floor of Closettastan. Mom is packing sweaters, so it must be someplace cold. And suitcases usually mean the pet resort. Let’s see now, what else is going on this month that would make her break her promise of Home Sweet Home until November? The U. S. Figure Skating National Championships are being held in Spokane, WA, this coming week. Do you think? Oh brother. January 28 Wow, that was a long stay at the resort and I am so glad to be back home. It took me a while (okay, it didn’t take long) to forgive Mom for going to Spokane, and now I’m spending a lot of time on her lap purring. I figure that if I stay sitting on her, she can’t go anywhere, and if I purr a lot, she’ll be so impressed with my affection that she won’t dare leave me again, right? Hold that thought. We’ll see how long the togetherness lasts this time. At least she didn’t bring me back a pair of ice skates, although I could have probably skated on our frozen pond if I were an outdoor cat. Something in down is more my style. Fluffy, warm, and doesn’t involve falling on one’s patutti. Check back now and then. I'll keep you posted on the latest developments! Hope to see you soon.
