Sanderson's Diary, January 2008
January 1 Hmmm, interesting New Year’s Eve party last night. Seems like the older I get, the less interesting the guests are and the less interesting the television coverage of the big event becomes. Am I turning into a jaded cat? January 2 Okay, I got that little bit of negativity out of my system. Let’s see how I am doing on my New Year’s resolutions. Well, considering that I didn’t make any, I am doing pretty well. January 8 I know the Beatles sang a song called “Here Comes the Sun,” but I wonder if anyone sang one called “Here Comes the Snow?” Because here it comes. In large quantities. Mom was supposed to go to her ex-boss’s 80th birthday party this coming Saturday, but I don’t think she will make it over the pass if this keeps up. But I’m not complaining, because staying home with Mom sure beats going to the pet hotel and listening to all those dogs barking in the other building. Why is it that a cat knows when to fold and go to sleep, but a dog just keeps yapping? January 16 Mom got out her snowshoes and did the tour of the property. I wish she’d take me with her in one of those kitty back packs. Maybe I should have got her one for Christmas. I’d like to check out all the animal tracks in the snow. From what I can tell from the front window, I know the deer are still afoot, and I think we were visited by a pretty big cat. January 21 The snow from the last storm hasn’t completely melted from the yard and the front drive is still coated with the stuff, and they are predicting another big storm. Mom went out to load up on groceries, and of course, food for me, so we should be set. I still haven’t figured out quite what the big deal is about snow. I’m still toasty warm here in the house, the food keeps coming, I’ve got all my new toys from Christmas to play with, and Mom’s lap to snuggle up on when I get tired. I’m just the perennial pampered pastel pet. January 24 Uh oh, the tractor battery died. Hope Mom can get it fixed before I run out of food! January 28 It is snowing again. Really big snow. Looks like someone tore up paper towels and dropped them from the sky. Check back now and then. I'll keep you posted on the latest developments! Hope to see you soon. Sanderson |
