Sanderson's Diary, July 2001
July 4 Happy Birthday America! I'm trying to pretend that I don't hear the fireworks going off around the neighborhood. Predictable noise, like the rhythmic beat of music, is okay, but those pops and squeals are a pain. I guess I'm getting old. This is my fourth Fourth of July. Of course, I was pretty young for the first one, but it hasn't seemed to change all that much. The television programming was better this year. Oh wow. I think I'll go back to bed! July 13 Oops! Today is Friday the 13th! It is supposed to be unlucky for certain folks and lucky for others. Fortunately, it is lucky for me. For one thing, I am not one of the black cats that everyone tries to avoid on the 13th. For another, my Mom was born on a Friday the 13th, so that's got to be pretty good for me as well. I mean, I wouldn't have the nice home I have if it wasn't for Mom having been born. I think the 13th has made Mom a little crazy though. She's been trying to find my belly button lately. Ever since my Uncle Andy said that all placental creatures have one, Mom keeps looking for mine. I suppose I have one, but as furry as I am, it isn't hard to hide. I give it about a week before she gives up. In the mean time, I'm trying to keep her occupied with thoughts of food, mine, as in treats! July 15 Today has been a lazy day. I slept in late, went downstairs and took a nap, and came back up and had another nap on the landing. In spite of the fact that Mom plugged in the crock pot in the garage to keep me out of it, the smell of Southwest Chicken is interrupting my sleep. I look forward to supper time, because no one can resist feeding a cat a little people food when the right technique is applied. If you want to try it for yourself, just click on Southwest Chicken and you will be transported to the page in my Cookbook where you can read the recipe. It's ummm ummm good! Check back now and then. I'll keep you posted on the latest developments! Hope to see you soon. Sanderson |
