Sanderson's Diary, May 1999
May 1 It's my birthday. Guess what guys, I'm two years old now! Aren't I getting big and fluffy? And just think, I've got at least another year and a half to grow. If you think I don't fit in the keyboard drawer now, just wait until I get up to fighting weight. I do wish my stupid Chihuahuas grew a little faster and ran a little slower. If I can catch them, they'd make a great Cinco de Mayo photo! I got some neat things for my birthday. Four new sponge golf balls, a mouse with a tail made out of feathers, one of those silly motorized balls with the furry mink-like creature attached (we made quick work of detaching it, more fun that way), and a new art-deco feeder. Le Bistro! Wow, I just hope I don't have to learn French now. May 5 Happy Cinco de Mayo, everyone! Well, I managed to catch my little puppies and get them all in the same place at the same time, so here's a photo of me and the Chihuahuas celebrating Cinco de Mayo. Do they look to you like they're getting any bigger? If I didn't know better, I'd swear that someone's been putting a little shortening into their food!!! May 9 Boy, I seem to be doing my writing on the Holidays this month. Happy Mothers' Day, everyone! Especially to my Mom, whom I don't know what I'd do without. She's got the driver license, which comes in handy when I need another bag of food. She's so patient with me, when I know if I was her I'd want to swat myself! But I try to make up for my overexuberance when I can. I sit on her lap a lot. (That one gets me treats!) I got her a couple of cute denim skirts for Mothers' Day. They should be great for her to wear on her trip to Texas next week. She thinks I don't know about the trip yet, but how can I not figure it out when she keeps going through her clothes and sneaking things into the closet in my room. (That's where she stores the luggage.) May 18 Mom got home from her trip to Texas and Oklahoma this evening. It sure was a good thing that she left with her luggage under-packed, because it was overstuffed when she came in! I checked everything out to make sure she hadn't tried to sneak another cat in. She brought back a curly dog with a bandana and a cowboy hat, and a Bugs Bunny for me, but nothing alive, thank goodness. But hey, she knows I'm her one and only, so I wasn't really all that worried. I had a lot of fun playing with my new bunny after Mom went to sleep. The ears are perfect for tossing it across the living room. And I can hardly wait to feed and water it. It is just the right size! Gotta go now. Time to climb back onto Mom's lap for some more treats!! Check back now and then. I'll keep you posted on the latest developments! Hope to see you soon.
