Sanderson's Diary, May 2006
May 6 Sorry I was so late getting my May page up, but it was my birthday on the first, and I’ve been partying ever since! I’m nine years old now. In cat years, that makes me 63, so I’m finally older than Mom! Not that it seems to make much of a difference. I still can’t work the can opener and I still get brushed twice a day and treats and everything. (Don’t tell Mom, but I figured out a while back that she’s putting my regular food in my treat jar, but I don’t want to hurt her feelings, and I like the attention of being hand-fed on occasion.) I got a new collection of balls for my birthday. Okay, you are asking, how does that work with a neutered male cat, right? Well, of course, what I got are foam rubber ones the size of golf balls. Wow, what’s not to like! I also got one that looks like a whole lot of colored thread wrapped around a core and then clipped so it stands up a couple of inches all around. Sort of like it got a haircut. It is supposed to have catnip inside, but I haven’t figured out the attraction yet. It doesn’t bounce, which in my book, makes it pretty boring. Oh well, maybe they’ll figure it out by the time I am ten! But best of all, Mom gave me roses! Imminently edible, always a delight, roses! May 7 Things are getting strange around here. Mom is taking things out of the closets in the non-master bedrooms. A guy gets nervous when stuff starts to get packed. The last time that happened, we moved. This doesn’t feel right for moving, but I sure am curious. If you talk to Mom, find out for me what’s going on?
May 10 Okay, I’ve figured out what all the ruckus is about. We’re getting new carpet. They started laying it yesterday. It is a silvery green. Don’t you think it goes great with my coloring? Mom kept me in the master suite yesterday. It almost drove me crazy until the installers left for the day and I could check it all out. I’m not sure what is going to happen today when they get to the master bedroom. Oh well, I’m sure Mom will figure something out. I love to get made into the bed, but I don’t think getting made into wall-to-wall carpet would be my cup of tea. Hmmm, speaking of tea, I think I’ll go have a sip out of my toilet bowl. All this worrying is making me thirsty! Well, that wasn’t so bad. Mom put me in the guest bathroom. No Internet connection, but plenty of fresh water! May 12 Wow, with all the excitement around here I just realized that Mother’s Day is about to sneak up on us this Sunday. I ordered Mom’s gift on-line today, which means that it won’t be here until sometime next week, but I figure I can say it was delayed in the mail, right? Anyway, she probably wouldn’t have worn them on Mother’s Day. I got her a pair of L. L. Bean tan leather hiking boots so when she decides to take a hike, she can do it in style. I don’t know what I ever did before I found out about Internet shopping! So much easier than having to call a cab and sneak out of the house. So to all you mothers out there, have a happy Mother’s Day on Sunday. Check back now and then. I'll keep you posted on the latest developments! Hope to see you soon. Sanderson |
