Sanderson's Diary, May 2009
May 1 Today is one of the most important days of the year, at least for me it is. Today is my birthday, and I am 12 years old. That’s 84 years old in people years, but don’t get excited yet. I still play like a kitten and race through the house and play soccer with my foam rubber balls. Great gifts, those foam rubber balls. Maybe I should celebrate my birthday more than once a year! May 10 Happy Mothers’ Day to all you Moms out there. I celebrated with my Mom by sitting on her lap all evening. And she loved the white sandals I got for her from that Internet shoe store. Of course it is still a little chilly for sandals, but she’ll have them if the weather ever decides to warm up. May 15 Last night the cat in the house way behind us came over again. He is getting a little less skittish about showing himself. He came right up onto the stoop and stared at me through the sliding glass door. We were nose to nose. I’m not sure if he wants to come in, or if he wants me to come out and play with him. I sort of acted upset for Mom’s benefit. I didn’t want her to get any ideas about opening the door. I am very happy being the king of a country of one. He is a cute little thing though, and it was fun acting all macho for Mom. May 21 Today we had a party. I think it was some human’s birthday. Everyone ate and oohed and aahed over the gifts. What’s the big deal if it isn’t a new supply of balls? May 25 What ever happened to celebrating holidays on the day they were originally declared? I am totally confused this year. When is the real Memorial Day? The calendar says it is “observed” on May 25, but the Indy 500 race was held the day before, and I’m not seeing anything telling me of the actual day of celebration. As it is a day of remembering our soldiers, shouldn’t we remember to remember them on the same day each year? Okay, you ask, why should this matter to a cat? Well, a guy has to think about something in between taking naps and getting brushed! Check back now and then. I'll keep you posted on the latest developments! Hope to see you soon. Sanderson |
