Sanderson's Diary, November 2006
November 1 Well, Halloween wasn’t very exciting. This was the first year that the kids that used to live in our house didn’t come by. Mom wouldn’t let me go to the door by myself, which kind of ruined the effect of my costume, but we only had one big group of kids, and I stayed a lot warmer being held. Mom forgot to take down the “Welcome Deer Friends” sign, so I was surprised that we didn’t hear hoof beats on the porch. I guess that group of kids scared them off. November 4 Speaking of staying warmer, it sure has gotten cold all of a sudden. That makes it really nice for me, because Mom puts the down down -- the blanket and comforter, that is. The bed is so fluffy that I don’t want to get out of it in the morning. Mom’s getting good at making it around me. Of course, just about the time she gets busy doing something, I come out demanding to be brushed. That’s a cat’s prerogative, right? Me, me, play with me! November 11 Happy Veterans Day. To all of you who have served . . . we owe you a huge debt of gratitude. Without you, we might not have the freedom of choice available to us today. (And in my case, to choose when I want a snack, when I want a nap, when I want to bug my Mom, well, you get the idea.) November 20 Uh oh, something’s wrong here. Mom got out the luggage and has started to stuff things into it. Although I’m highly stuffable, with food, of course, I don’t think I want to get folded into a bunch of clothes. It does make me nervous, though, because I’m not really in the mood for a vacation. Maybe I get to stay home and someone will come in and check on me. One can only hope. November 22 Well, it didn’t work out quite the way I had hoped. Mom has gone to visit the relatives for Thanksgiving, and I am writing this via wireless connection from the pet motel. What an indignity! First I got stuffed into the carrier, and then into a compartment. The perfect vacation, so they advertised, four and three nights on the Oregano Express. Who are they kidding? I’m in a cell here. Mom, come back and get me! November 25 You know how it is when you’re on vacation, you just don’t eat right? Well, I sure was glad to see Mom this morning and to find out that she’s staying home for Christmas. But I couldn’t get too mad, because Mom let me drive home. One of the cousins gave Mom an early Christmas present so she could put it out with the decorations. It is a miniature piano that plays a whole bunch of holiday carols while these two snowmen dance and twirl around atop the baby grand. Well, they did until I slapped one across the room, chased after it, and it ended up under the stove in the kitchen. It was really nice of cousin Sally to pick out something I could have so much fun with. I can hardly wait for the rest of the decorations to go up! Check back now and then. I'll keep you posted on the latest developments! Hope to see you soon. Sanderson |
