Remember how I was always trying to decide on a career when I was younger? Well, today I tried out a little magic with the thought of perhaps becoming a magician.  Mom ordered two pair of shoes over the Internet yesterday afternoon and they showed up via UPS just a couple of minutes ago. I told her it was magic! Actually, she was selected for a free express shipping upgrade, but I think I’ll let her ponder it a bit longer.  Also, while she was trying on shoes I dropped one of my balls into the toe of one, then reached in a paw and tossed the ball into the air.  Better than pulling a rabbit out of a hat, right?

The buck stops here! Or should I say the bucks stop here. We have quite a contingent sleeping under the cypress trees in the front right now.  I thought that bucks didn’t travel in packs, but we have a three-year-old, a two-year-old, and a yearling out there.  They snooze away the morning and then stroll around to the back for a drink out of the stream or pond.  Nobody has fallen in yet, but I can hope.  Should make quite a sight.

Uh oh, one of those bucks is standing on the driveway staring into the window of our library.  This is really weird. He’s just staring. Not even blinking. Well, two can play this game.  I think he’s trying to see of Mom will let him use the Internet to order some Fathers’ Day presents.  My bet is on Mom not caving.  I’m sure she doesn’t want those sharp cloven hooves prancing across the new carpet. I know those guys aren’t meat eaters, but this is one scary dude.  I wish he’d just go home and make something for his Dad. I’m sure he’d appreciate it.

Fathers’ Day has come and gone.  Aren’t you proud of me? I didn’t write an entry on a holiday for once. It was just another day around here. Mom made sure I wouldn’t father any kids when I was really young (see Sanderson’s Diary, September 1997), and we refused to let the bucks in, so it was pretty quiet.  I wanted to watch The Aristocats, but Mom said it always makes her cry so we watched a Harrison Ford action flick instead.  Oh, and I got brushed an extra time as a consolation prize.

The warm weather seems to have arrived here in Northern California.  We’re in triple digits, and expect to stay there for at least a few days. Of course, being an indoor feline, the changes in temperature don’t bother me much, but it is fun to lay by one of the air conditioning registers when it starts to blow out the cool air.  It makes my mane really fluffy, and drives Mom nuts trying to figure out what I’m up to. She’s sure I’ve hidden something down the vent.

Check back now and then. I'll keep you posted on the latest developments! Hope to see you soon.
